Ride Group Sent Home from Cundinup

16-Jul-2010

Citing a lack of an appropriate permit, police and DEC officials put an early end to a day's ride organised by the Busselton Dirt Bike Club.

The group of 39 riders was intercepted near Cundinup and club officials notified that future 'events' would require a Non Commercial Event permit to be issued prior to the ride being promoted.  Similar action by DEC saw the demise of the DSMRA in Western Australia last year.

RTRA is seeking clarification from DEC as to the threshold that turns a group of mates going out for a ride together into a 'Non Commercial Event'.

We will advise members of the answer to this significant question when we receive it from DEC.
